Via ferrata

Sporty challenges, unique rock formations and an impressive view – that’s what awaits you on the via ferrata Chäligang. The starting point is the valley station of the Engstligenalp AG mountain railroads. From there, it’s a 20-minute walk. Only then begins the entrance to the actual alpine via ferrata. Along the Chäligang, secured by a rope, you head towards the summit. But beware: Climb at your own risk!

Do not get distracted!

The way is simple. Individual passages, however, require great concentration from the climber – the Engstligen Falls, as constant companions, like to draw the eye to themselves. However, a vantage point directly above the waterfall offers the opportunity to observe the thundering force of nature in peace and to experience nature with all your senses. You will also enjoy the view of the Engstli valley and the village of Adelboden.

Rare Edelweiss Sea

Afterwards, the via ferrata winds along a wide rocky ledge up to the Edelweiss-Hubel. Even the name promises a natural spectacle: Hundreds of the protected flowers thrive here alongside other rare plants. Here the secured path ends and you continue on the official mountain path – to the mountain station of Engstligenalp.

Need a break?

Once you have reached the top, you can stop at the restaurant of the mountain hotel and let the impressions of the via ferrata Chäligang sink in with some refreshments.

Rent climbing equipment and benefit

Did you know that you can also rent climbing equipment at the valley station of the Engstligenalp AG mountain railroads? If you rent the climbing equipment, you also benefit from an attractive combined price for the return trip with the cable car.

Boulder course

Engstligenalp is also a large and extremely scenic summer bouldering area. Unique is the possibility of bouldering in the course. Some of the courses are also ideal to walk with the whole family, because they are located on a flat flowery meadow, crossed by small streams – a true paradise for children! The course around the Lägerstein for bouldering near Adelboden is located on the circular hiking trail that is suitable for strollers and can therefore be reached even with the smallest ones. The two courses at Dossenseeli, on the other hand, can only be reached by a longer hike.

Bouldering courses can be booked via Alpinschule Adelboden.

Rental equipment is available on request (as early as possible) from the Alpine School Adelboden.
