But if you want to experience the full force of this natural wonder, set off on foot: the water thunders and foams over two mighty cascades, plunging 600 meters into the depths – an experience that you can see, hear and feel.
Whether as a short detour or an extended circular hike – the Engstligen Falls are the perfect destination for nature lovers, photographers and adventurers. You can feel the power of the water particularly intensely on the ascent to Engstligenalp: the hiking trail leads through imposing rock faces and offers breathtaking views of the thundering natural spectacle time and again.
Numerous places along the route invite you to pause, marvel and relax. Those who like it more sporty will also find exciting challenges here – for example on the via ferrata in an alpine setting.
Once at the top, however, the largest plateau in Switzerland is also enchanting. With the freely grazing cows, colorful flowering meadows and the view over the breathtaking mountain panorama, the alpine feeling is definitely not neglected up here. And by the way, from the top station, families with strollers and wheelchair users have a wonderful view of the upper part of the waterfall!
